Battle of the Bartender: 2001
Universal CityWalk bartenders squared off today to determine who makes the best alcohol-free "mocktail" and promote responsible hospitality during the holiday season.
Universal CityWalk joined with Recording Artists, Actors and Athletes Against Drunk Driving and the Insurance Information Network of California to demonstrate how party hosts can serve quality non-alcoholic drinks to help keep their guests safe on the ride home.
The "Battle of the Bartenders" featured contestants from 12 CityWalk restaurants and nightclubs showing off their best original non-alcoholic drinks. The beverages were judged for taste, appearance and creativity.
The winner for creativity and presentation was Hard Rock Café Hollywood's The Patriot, a red, white and blue frozen concoction. The award for best taste went to Jillian's Hi Life Lanes for Oreo Decadence, a dark chocolate frozen treat.
Jillian's High Life Lanes' Oreo Decadance was named the Best Tasting Mocktail.
Judges at the event included TV's Judge Joe Brown, "Days of Our Lives" star Alison Sweeney, Los Angeles Daily News Food Editor Natalie Haughton, La Opinion Food Editor Katia Ramirez-Blankley, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Commander Kenneth Brazile and Los Angeles Police Department Captain Greg Meyer.
